Stormwater Utility Board Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schmeichel at 5:09 p.m.
Board members present were: Bob Schmeichel, Jan DeKeyser, Dave Dexter, Geoff Hibner, and Glenn Winkler. Others present included Ben Hamblin, Dennis Jochman, and Nick Vande Hey.
Nick Vande Hey and Ben Hamblin explained their revised recommended water retention pond plans for the Herziger property. They explained that the stimulus money -- if approved -- would pay 50% of pond construction costs. It is uncertain at this point whether land costs could be included. They need to submit biddable plans by June 30. They also advised they cannot design a workable pond on the original half-acre of non-wetland.
Dennis Joch stated that purchasing more land will render the remainder of the 11-acre Herziger property undevelopable by the owners. He believes it would be best to buy the entire 11-acre parcel.
The Board directed the engineers to proceed with plans for a pond that would yield 80% sediment reduction for the watershed, utilizing however much land would be required. There is no obligation to build or buy prior to June 30. Dennis Jochman will work on a revised offer to purchase.
We need to set a meeting for early July with Carl Sutter and Nick Vande Hey regarding Michels Materials and the DNR letter.
Motion to adjourn by Winkler, seconded by DeKeyser; approved unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 6:54 p.m.
